    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a John F. Scutt patent, dated September 12, 1882. This wire is called "Scutt's Webbed Ribbon or Channeled Cast Iron Barb", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 703-B). This wire features two round line wires, that are twisted together. Barbs are made from a malleable cast iron ribbon, with round ribs on both sides, giving the barb a channeled appearance. Barbs are inserted between line wires and points bent in opposite directions to hold barbs to lines. This sample is 18-1/4" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting. There are no bent, broken or missing barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
