    Description

This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Henry M. Rose patent, dated December 25, 1887.   This wire is called "Rose's Wide Spread Two Point Barb on Heavy Flattened Roud Line", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 90-B). This wire features a single heavy gauge flattened round line wire.  Line is flat on two sides.  Barbs are two pointed made from a single round barbing wire.  Barbs are wrapped twice around the line in an open spiral. Sample shows light pitting.  Sample is 18" in length and has five barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There is some light bending of points, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
