Kition Stater #745

Offered is a rare Kition, Cyprus stater. Struck in 449-425 BC on an irregular silver flan approx. 19 X 24mm and weighing 11.09 gm. Although struck on an obviously irregular flan, this strike still shows incredibly complete details. Obv. A nicely centered Heracles wearing a lion's skin,in a fighting stance facing right holding a club overhead and a bow before him within a circular beaded border. Rev. Lion attacking a stag that is crouching right within a square circular border in very nice detail. Purchased from trusted ebay seller "sculptor17" in 2018.
