    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Charles Kennedy patent dated August 11, 1874. This wire is called "Kennedy's Clamped-On Three Point Barb on Single Round Line", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 193-B). This wire features a single heavy gauge round line wire. Barbs are three pointed made from sheet metal. One end of sheet metal is cut into three points, which are bent at right angles to rest of sheet. This sheet metal collar is then clamped around the line wire. These barbs were purchased by weight and hand applied to a standing wire fence, using a specially patented plier type tool. This sample is 18-1/2" in length and has two barbs. There is also a splice at center of sample which could be a factory splice. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light pitting. There are no bent, broken or missing barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
