    Description

    This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated February 8, 1876. This wire is called "Glidden's Extra Wrap Heavy Four Point Barb on Single Round Line", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 128-B) This wire features a single heavy (8 ga) round line wire. Barbs are four pointed made from two round barbing wires. Wires are wrapped together around the line wire. Barbing wires have an extra wrap from normal; and barbing wires are heavier gauge than normal. These are 11 gauge. This sample is 18" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with pitting,. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in in very good used condition. There are no off odors.
