    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called "Gliddens' Two Point Railroad Wire on Round & Square Lines - Barb on Round- with Long & Short Points" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 376-B & 1066-B VARIATION - Hagemeier shows round & square lines at 376-B and Long and Short Points at 1066-B - He does not show these on one sample). This wire features two twisted together line wires. One line is round in cross section, and the other line is square in cross-section. Barbs are on the round line. Barbs are two pointed made from round stock. Barb is wrapped twice around the round line wire. Barbs are cut with one long and one short point. These wires with unusual shaped lines are often referred to collectively as "railroad" wires. This sample is 18-1/4" in length and has four barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
