    Description

    This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent dated February 18, 1876. This wire is called "Gliddens' Two Point Heavy Three Wrap Barb on Single Heavy Round Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 35-B). This wire features a single heavy gauge round line wire. Line wire is nine gauge. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round barbing wire three times around the line wire. Barbing wires are 11.5 gauge. It is possible this barb was hand applied to a standing fence. This sample is 18" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with moderate pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors.
