    Description

    Charles Chouteau Gratiot of the notable St  Louis Missouri  Fur Trade Gratiot and Chouteau Families was brevetted Brigadier General for building  Fort Meigs, Ohio  & Fort Gratiot and for his heroism in the the Battle of Mackinac Island, MichiganTerritory in the War of 1812. An original autograph simply signed  "C Gratiot". The signature is a 2.5 x 2" clip signature mounted in a 9 x 7"  autograph album page.  Age stains, edge wear, Overall VG. Undated, from a circa 1830s autograph album.  Comes w bio info. A scarce and desirable  Frontier hero signature. Comes w bio info.
