Description
This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features two different barbing patents. First is an Arthur Burnell patent, dated June 19, 1877; and second is a Milton C. Shinn patent, dated March 1, 1881. his wire is called "Burnell's Hooked Four Point; and Shinn's Locked-On Four Point Combination Barbs", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier No listing found for this combination) This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Burnell Barbs are four pointed made from two round barbing wires. A point of each barbing wire is inserted between line wires; and points hooked together. Remainder of barbing wires are wrapped together around both lines. Shinn barbs are four pointed, made from two round barbing wires. Two barbing wires are wrapped together around one line wire, and points on one end of barb are twisted together. This sample also has a one line factory splice. Sample is 18" in length and has three Shinn barbs at one end; and two Burnell barbs at opposite end. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is fairly well centered. Wire is overall in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings.
